Introduction

Having "discovered" Bravenet, I have now changed my mailing list, forum, and guestbook over to them. It's FREE! I have set it up to get notified when people join, or place comments, and just go to Bravenet.com to check things out. Much friendlier and functional than FreeAutobot - guess that's why it has ads.

Freebies

The source for my TrafficJam download was moved without telling me last month, so this month I will repeat the freebie, plus one other.

Marketing and Tech Tips

MPAM is without doubt, an excellent introduction to marketing. It's interesting to see the familiar names of other program owners helping out in the MPAM forums. After being a Gold member for a while, I took the leap and paid to become a Platinum member. The benefits are very good, including hosting, and pro-membership of various programs, and (what I think is best), random signups under you from people who join without a referral. They're building my list for me!

This is great! A free link checker. Download it and run it, and it tells you if you have any dead links on your site. That's how I found out my trafficjam ebook was no longer there. Check out Xenu Link Checker.

I finally launched my site correctly through the search engines. Until then I had only promoted through the traffic exchanges. My first submission, last month, was the typical, quickly-put-together affair, that everybody starts with. So I carefully analysed my keywords, optimised my site, and submitted it on the 13th March. Then I discovered I had already missed Google's spiderbots for the month. Darn it - the things you find out on newsgroups and forums.

My goal is to prove that you can get a top ranking on Google for free. I've researched heaps of sites and books, and this is how to do it for free:

  1. Organise
  2. Write down everything you do here, as you will do it each month. Any more frequently is spamming the search engines.
  3. Choose your keywords.
  4. Choose keywords you like, and use the free suggestion tools at Overture (inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion) and Google (https://adwords.google.com/select/main) to expand your list.
  5. Use WordTracker to analyse the competition
  6. This program tells you which keywords basically have too much competition. You only get one free use of Wordtracker, so choose your words carefully. www.wordtracker.com
  7. Optimise your website
  8. Now that you know your keywords, optimise your site to use them. Put your keywords in the Meta Tags (title, description, keywords), and also the text. Put them high in the page (first paragraph), in headings (h1,h2,h3), in alt-text for your graphics, and in link text. Aim for a density of 4-8% in your text.
  9. Grab some links
  10. The more sites link TO you, the higher your ranking on Google. More value is placed on links from sites related to your topic. So search for your keywords, and ask the people up top to swap links with you. See how many people link to your competitors at Google by typing link:competitorssitename into Google. Swap articles. Help out at forums.
  11. Submit your site
  12. I used WorldWidePromoter, as it's free. I submitted each functional page separately. Then manually add to Altavista.
  13. Wait
  14. It usually does take about 6 weeks to get listed. So promote using safelists, traffic exchanges, PPC (if you have money), and dig up more links for next time.

I plan to expand this and have it as an article on my site, that you can add to your ezines for free.

Scammers often use spiders to automatically search through websites looking for email addresses to spam to. Encode your email address so it cannot be read by these programs, with a free program from Natata Anti-Spam Encoder

You've probably seen the ads for ListFire lately. It is a list builder, similar to golden oldier FreeNetLeads. I signed up, not really intending to promote it, to see what it was like. The owner, Mike Chen, is also the author of WebArmyKnife. He is giving away a copy of that for free if you join ListFire. It's all FREE! Why not. ListFireJoin Here.

Business Program Changes

I received an email from the administrators of the popular Clickaholics/ViralVisitors programs. They are no longer promoting LeadLightning, as they feel it is dying from the bottom. Poor LeadLightning.

CashCulture has removed their forum. CashCulture said it was due to misuse. I saw one of the offending comments, where the writer did a comparison between CashCulture, the hosting program, and a competitor. A pity. A forum is the best way of keeping a program alive, with constant exchange of info about how to use the program wisely.

MLMEthics has also removed its forum. It feels lonely now. I am member 1616 out of about 2500. This month they are doing the middle-out reversal, so my matrix has 6 people. After April 10 they will reverse twice a month. So if you did want to try out this program, join just before April 23/4, so you will be at the bottom just before they do the reversal. If I'm still there....

ScamFreeZone has an affiliate program where you can sell Neil Shearing's excellent products for 50% commission. And it's free to join. That is unbeatable, in my opinion. No risk, great quality.

The Residual Club is also free to join. It is a downline club, that has already joined one program, and will join the next very soon. The new program will be a SPAM stopper, with a yearly fee, (although it will have a one month free trial) that will be incredibly useful and is predicted to be HUGE. Join this club for free, and read the forum. The owner is very active and helpful on the forum.

PAID EMAIL/SURVEY/SURF CHANGES

After spending a lot of time at getpaidforum.com and gptboycott.com, I finally have a list of solid get-paid programs. These ones all have lots of people vouching for the quality of their support, and on-time payments.
