IntroductionI had a 2% reject rate on my last ezine mailing - invalid addresses, which is surprising given the double-opt-in nature. Sadder was the fact that two people unsubscribed. But you can't take everything in business personally - this ezine is aimed at people who are trying to do internet marketing as cheaply as possible. Success will be based on knowledge and effort: I can share my knowledge, but the effort is up to you. Fr33biesI assume everybody knows about Joe Kumar's 30 Days to Internet Marketing Success, that is being sold everywhere. Well, he has a sample chapter that he hands out for fr3e to his ezine subscribers, that we are fr3e to giveaway. You can get a copy here. I will only leave this link here for a week, as otherwise I will blow my download limit. So be quick. Marketing and Tech TipsThe creators of FreeNetLeads have a new program: Monster ToolBar Traffic. This looks pretty good. Interconnects with his other programs. Includes a fr3e ad-tracker. I can't believe I didn't realise Bravenet had a fr3e affiliate program that can earn you money. If I refer people to Bravenet and they are active for more than 14 days, I can earn $1. Not bad, considering your referral doesn't actually have have to buy something. They just have to be active - use the fr3e services. I use Bravenet completely for my mailing list management - collecting addresses, and mailing out newsletters, plus the forum and guestbook, so it's easy to be active. Have a look. According to my host,Kiosk , I had 14,000 page requests for www.free-marketing-help.com in July 2003. I had no idea it was that popular. I just revamped it to make it use tables instead of frames, so that I could start doing some link exchanges. So it's time to start making money out of it, even if it's just to cover the hosting. I asked Google's Adsense if they would approve it for ad display, but they said no. No reason given. I assume it's because the word Fr3e in the title means it will attract people without much money. So I'll have to put some banners from AdOptimal on them. They pay for banner display, whether or not people click on them, so in that respect they are better than AdSense. That site has gotta make money somehow. And a BIG thanks to the guy who signed up to MPAM from my link there. He went all the way to Platinum, as fast as anyone I have ever seen, earning himself money on the way. Once your site has been optimised, the next step towards a good ranking on Google is collecting good incoming links. The best forum for tips on this, is at searchenginewatch.com. The most common tips are:
A great method is to add your site to directories. The larger engines all seem to charge a fee these days, but I have successfully added my site for fr3e at the following directories, usually without requiring a reciprocal link. Often they will ask you to become a member though.
Another good new forum about search engines is Webmaster-Forum.Net. A very knowledgeable group of people hang out there and are happy to answer your questions. Definitely worth visiting. One important thing I learnt there, was the importance of the incoming text link. For example, on my site "A Get Paid Site" I had been exchanging links with people, with the text link "A Get Paid Site". Fine, that helped me get number one at Google for "A Get Paid Site", but as not many people do searches for that phrase, I should have been have been asking for the text link to read "Get Paid To Read Email", like this Get Paid To Read Email as that is the phrase people usually search for. It was worth visiting their forum just to learn that. So I also renamed all the links on Home Business World, to say "Home Business" instead of "Business", as a more useful keyword to get a position on. It's interesting to notice the proliferation of mini affiliate sites. First of all, you need to know what people are looking for through search engines. Sources for popular keywords are:
Based on the above information, I found that "Flowers" is an extremely popular search keyword. So I decided to build a site around it. Initially I was going to do everything for fre3, and got a fr3e domain name from dot.tk, http://www.flowers-australia.tk. But the fr3e domain option does not allow you to go directly to a non-index page, which caused problems with link exchanges, which really are necessary to get a good position on Google. And if you don't send enough traffic to your fr3e site, dot.tk will take the domain name back. So I bought a domain, http://www.australian-flower-shops.com. I may yet experiment with dot.tk for another subject, so if I learn a way around it, I'll pass it on. The next step is to decide which affiliate programs to use. I visited AssociatePrograms.com, ClixGalore , and Commission Monster, and looked for flower affiliate programs that operate in Australia. Then you stick the links on your site, and promote your site. Many people go straight to Pay-Per-Click to promote their site at this point, so that they can be earning money immediately. It is tempting. However I exchanged emails with a Canadian guy, who has a bunch of these sites, specialising in Australian shopping. He said he has made enough money to fund the spending for his 5 week holiday in Australia. And he does it by using free search engine promotion techniques. Inspiring. Business ProgramsMy Joint Venture is approaching it's limit, before they close doors. Their limit is 5000 members. They are definitely way over 4500 people now. This is a one-off cost for something that is planned to generate ongoing income. Don't miss out on this one, seriously. My number one program is opening in New Zealand on September 15, and in the UK in October. Those are two fantastic opportunities. Considering both of my grandfathers were British, I've never been to the UK, or even have anyone over there to correspond with. If you know people in those countries who would be interested in a great opportunity, I'd love to hear about them. Paid Email/Survey/SurfAs usual there are heaps of new programs this month, but I haven't joined any lately. I'm happy with the current lot on my site Get Paid To Read Email, except maybe Mokercash, which has too many searches, even though it is fast to earn redemptions. It is interesting to note that a lot more people are building websites listing their top programs. It just means the competition will be even tougher for that position on the search engines. Fr33 AdIf you have a useful tip that I haven't covered, send it in, and the best tip will receive a 5 line ad in the next issue of this newsletter.
