IntroductionA big welcome to all new subscribers. I hope you enjoy my home business tips and feedback. My laugh of the month came from reading an article in Small Business Newz by a supposed marketing expert, who was addressing the typical summer slowdown in the US. I quote: "Remember when it's summer in the US, it is a different season in Japan and Australia". Good grief! Unless Japan has suddenly moved to the southern hemisphere, they share the same seasons as the US. In fact, having lived in both places, I found Tokyo and Raleigh to have amazingly similar climates. Hot, humid summers, beautiful autumn, and a little snow in winter. And at the same time of year, too. Lawsy. Fr33biesWebCEO as been proclaimed the best web promotion software for SEOs, webmasters, and e-marketers. They've just released a new upgrade, and they still have a free version. Check it out at WebCEO. I also have a copy of Dan Browns AdWords Checklist available here. It is a worthwhile read if you haven't tried Adwords before. Marketing and Tech TipsI made a dumb mistake this month. One of the few times I ran a campaign in a paid-to-read program, and I made a spelling mistake in my link. Made the same mistake on my business page here, too. I mixed up a number 1 with a letter l. Lesson learnt. Wasted advertising for JuiceBoosted, which is a pity, as free signup programs generally get good results on paid-to-read programs. A well-recommended, very cool tool is KeyboardExpress which lets you set up macros for free. So if you have some frequently typed text, eg your link exchange text that you send to webmasters, you can set it up as a hot key and do it much faster. And another cool free HTML editor is available at SoThink Business ProgramsMy shopping site, Online Shopping Australia had thus far only been using Commission Monster for affiliate management. Although they are lovely - and I did get another nice surprise when I checked the stats for sales in July - I was obviously missing out on some shops. So, after reading an article in the good old Sydney Morning Herald about the Aussie-based ClixGalore, I added 14 new shops to the site. All had 100% user-satisfaction ratings. One day I'll get around to BeFree shops. I was looking at the various sites I've built, on my Portfolio page, and realised that most of the earnings has come from affiliate sites as mentioned above. Where people actually spent money because they want to buy stuff. That's why everyone likes niche minisites. So make sure you've read the Affiliates page on my main home-biz-world site, for guides on making money with affiliate programs. Paid Email/Survey/SurfWell, I've been trying HaulingCash, but unless you're into searches, it's not a big earner. So many emails expire before I get to them, probably because of the time of day down here in Australia. Although it did improve a bit later in the month. So I'll give them another month's trial. PureProfile has been a consistent survey company in Australia for me. At $1 per survey, I finally have $35 to spend at WishList.com.au. And yes, I'm still waiting for my cheque to arrive from AYS. At least hthey've improved the request system, so that your account has a clear record of when funds were requested, so you can have more than one request in the system at the same time. They are trying. |
